Susan Flora, Founder, President, and CEO
On any given day of the week, you’re likely to find WordTeasers CEO and President Susan Flora climbing over boxes of inventory stacked high in her company’s warehouse, deftly negotiating a reduced printing cost with her printer or brain-storming ideas for a new edition of her highly successful brand of conversation starters. “It’s all in a day’s work,” Susan says with her trademark laugh.
Susan’s brainchild started when she saw a specific need that wasn’t being met. In this case, the need was to help her then 16-year-old son (now gainfully employed in the advertising world) improve his vocabulary and remember what he learned… particularly with the PSAT, the SAT, and the ACT tests looming on the horizon.
Susan wasn’t exactly new to educational publishing when she launched her business 11 years ago. For 14 years, she had worked at Scholastic Inc., an international educational publishing company, where she collaborated with editors in the development of sponsored educational materials for a variety of companies ranging from Walt Disney to Apple Computer.
But for years she thought about starting her own business. “It was just a matter of coming up with a product that I believed in and felt would help kids of all ages learn something new while having fun,” she says. “That product is WordTeasers.”

Tami Amoroso, Art Director and Web Developer
No matter what the design assignment is – from web development to packaging to attention-getting promotional materials – Tami brings the perfect visual solution to every project she undertakes. Her intrinsic understanding of the design needs for any project keeps WordTeasers fresh and exciting and eminently marketable.
Following graduation from the Art Institute of Boston in 1983, Tami began her career as a designer for fashion and music industry trade magazines. You can easily see that fashion/music/fun style in designs she creates for WordTeasers.
She followed that experience with a stint as co-director of the art department for a strategic marketing firm until leaving to raise her family. (She now has one daughter in college and a son and daughter in high school.) At the same time, she began her own freelance art design business for clients in a variety of industries from fashion and retail to technology and financial services. As busy as she is, she’s always there for us and as dependable as a clock. She has been a huge part of developing our look, our brand, and our continuing success.
Tami has served as Art Director for WordTeasers since the company’s founding. “From the beginning, WordTeasers has been a particularly fun concept to design for,” she says. “I love bringing the energy of the games to the energy of the look, feel, and design of the products.”

Brent Flora, Operations Manager
Truly the jack of all trades, Brent started working for WordTeasers nine years ago when he was in high school. During the early years, you would most often find Brent in the company’s public storage space where all the games were kept. He was the go-to-guy for shipping, building pallets and helping out wherever he could.
Brent spent many vacations in both high school and college attending and selling WordTeasers at major trade shows like New York Toy Fair and the Atlanta Gift Show. Brent’s ability to zero in on customer needs was uncanny. He is a great listener and aggressive sales-person, but his cute smile also helped increase both sales and traffic at our booth!
When Brent left to pursue his full academic scholarship in Economics at UCLA, he continued making even more sophisticated contributions to WordTeasers. He is a whiz at analyzing our order history and determining when digital marketing will be most effective. And Brent has now become our resident logistics guy, who determines when we need to manufacture more games based on sales and anticipated demand.
Now that he has graduated from UCLA, Brent is multi-tasking and both looking for his next career adventure, while making major contributions at WordTeasers as our Operations Manager.

Les Guessing, Writer / Web Developer/ Video / Analytics
Les’s goal in life has never been to be rich or famous, but to “get up every morning and be able to study and learn things that interest me”. And he has lived by that credo (especially the not getting rich or famous part).
He’s one of only a handful of Copywriters in the country who has won an Emmy. His favorite accounts to work on have involved fun and games. He won his Emmy as Creative Director of NFL on Fox. He worked on video game accounts where he was fortunate to work with top Extreme Sports stars like Tony Hawk. He has created award-winning campaigns for online poker companies. He wrote for Mattel for years where he was the first man to ever work on Barbie. (In fact, he won the $10,000 David Ogilvy Award for his sales-powering, heart-touching, feet-moving efforts.)
He believes “Learning is a form of play” and is big fan of a book by famed American physicist Richard Feynman called “The Pleasure of Finding Things Out”.
